A VERY DIFFERENT TYPE OF PERSONAL TRAINER

I know wanting to better your health and get fit is a priority for most people, but making that leap and actually doing something about it can be tough.

Who Am I ?

I am the most un-athletic person you have ever met. As a child, I was the fat picked on kid with poor parents that couldn’t afford after school sports. Children in grade school were mean to me, I was never picked for teams at PE, ate alone with no friends. I found my comfort in candy and my dogs. I didn’t even know I was fat until I was 10 and a girl told me.
The summer before high school, I went to a basketball camp. The coach was very polite to me, the fat girl who couldn’t jump, was the slowest in the sprints and shot ‘granny style.’ He just said, “Vanessa, you probably want to get fit before basketball season starts.”

This was 1980 and for 3 Olympics, Frank Shorter was my hero. This man could run and ran with heart and just amazed me and I wanted to run like him. I went to the library, got every book on running, bought a pair of $19.99 tan and brown Nike’s, stayed up all night reading about running.
The next morning, at 5am, I went out to run. I made it 22 steps, just to the corner of the block. I sat down on the curb, crying between my huffing and trying to catch my breath under the street light. As I started to walk the 22 steps back home, I changed my mind. If I could run 22 steps right now, what if I could run 23 steps, and maybe 25 tomorrow? I vowed to, this time, not give up in life when something was hard. This was a private vow to myself. I ran again this time about 25ft past the corner, and smiled. I had pushed myself and had succeeded. Sure, it hurt, and it wasn’t far, but it was better than yesterday. I lost 60lbs that summer and I ran my first marathon at 15.

I have been an avid equestrian, tennis player and runner excelling at all these sports. I don’t have any talent, I just know how to make hard work fun. Everyone can experience sports and enjoy their bodies, I want to show you how.

PTR CERTIFIED TEACHING PROFESSIONAL

I personally still compete at USTA tournaments and have won 8 norcal player of the year awards and am nationally ranked on the senior tour. I have courts in cupertino, ca or can come to your private court.

Competitive Runner

Let me take you on your first 5k and enjoy the many benefits of running. I compete regularly in 5ks, 10ks, 1/2 marathons and full marathons winning many age group and overall awards.  Running can be fun and pain free.
